The AI & Society Lab is an inter- and transdisciplinary research laboratory at the interface between research, industry and civil society. It explores the societal changes and challenges that arise from the introduction of artificial intelligence in political, social and cultural processes. The Lab aims to initiate new connections and productive exchanges between stakeholders and to enrich the discourse around AI with contributions that enable conscious and informed policy-making processes, for example through academic publications, multi-stakeholder workshops, public events or media productions. It is supported by the Institute of Geography, the Institute of European Ethnology and the Institute of Social Sciences. The GSZ coordinates research and teaching activities on three levels: within the university, in Berlin and internationally. Furthermore, the Georg-Simmel-Centre with its various activities addresses students, doctoral candidates and post-docs as well as professors. On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Specialist Centre for Participation Counselling provides professional and organisational support for the regional counselling services that will be funded within the framework of the EUTB from 1 January 2018. In concrete terms, this means that the EUTB counsellors can turn to their counsellors from the regional teams of the specialist unit with socio-legal, socio-pedagogical and socio-medical questions. In addition, the Specialist Centre for Participation Counselling provides advice on the topic of accessibility and supports with organisational questions. The Specialist Centre for Participation Counselling is implemented by gsub Gesellschaft für soziale Unternehmensberatung mbH in cooperation with Selbstbestimmt Leben UG (haftungsbeschränkt) and the Humboldt University of Berlin.
