    • Assistant Curate
      • May 2017 - Jan 2019

My primary duty is as a priest, pastor and teacher. I lead Sunday services of Morning Prayer and Communion, while also preaching. I lead the youth group every Friday night at 7pm. As a youth group we have organized together 30 hour famines, retreats, volunteering, outreach, church partnerships, but usually we play some games, study the bible and pray together. I also organize our summer day camp (Vacation Bible School) for children 5-13, with leaders being 14+. On top of these my role varies greatly, through organizing events, presiding over weddings and funerals, teaching classes, volunteering at local initiatives, visiting the hospital and in general caring for those in the church and in the area of Clarkson. This is a small church that self identifies as a missional church. I was hired to care for the small congregation, while connecting with the community and finding ways in which we could serve and share the gospel. I formed partnerships with two local public schools, with numerous local churches, library groups, and service groups in the area. We empowered others to serve, while serving beside them. A major part of my role became gentle evangelism, through serving God in word and deed. I had conversations with atheists, agnostics, new age mystics, those of no faith, and those with alternate faiths in libraries, street corners, park benches, coffee shops, in homes, on the subway and many more. I was very blessed to see many take steps in faith. At the end, it became my role through prayer to find my replacement. Show less

    • Interim Lay Pastor
      • May 2016 - Aug 2016

Most Sundays I would lead worship and preach, alternating between reserved Eucharist and Morning Prayer, while also alternating between the Book of Common Prayer and the Book of Alternative Services. I did many pastoral visits to both parishioners and community members, helping to strengthen them in their faith and their faithful witness to Christ. I analyzed the church community and the Creston community to understand the potential for mission and church growth. To do this analyses I began the work of gentle evangelism and saw a very positive response as the church saw it's largest attendance in a few years. I was sad to leave this church and it's community so early because it was a summer placement, but I am very hopeful for the work the Holy Spirit is doing in the community. Show less

As a student I participated in many liturgical roles including: server, crucify, acolyte, deacon, preacher, communion minister, and leader of morning prayer. I helped out and spoke at the Mandarin fellowship on numerous occasions. In addition to this I began a bible study that has been continued by the Mandarin ministry, since my departure. My missional ministry consisted of prayer, gentle evangelism and conversations at George Brown College, which eventually became a partnership with Inter Varsity as they moved back into the campus. • Guest Preacher / Summer Secretary
      • Jul 2015 - Aug 2015

Following my student placement, I was very blessed to be hired back on for a short time to preach and cover summer holidays. During my student placement I had a missional focus. I helped to guide much of their summer activities, including but not limited to their Pan Am Game events. This included a weekday morning and afternoon welcome table, where we talked to many locals and prayed with them. I continued to build up our relationships with local businesses and the community around us. My training here also included most aspects of pastoral life and it was a privilege to learn under such gifted and capable people, lay and ordained. Show less

    • Youth Pastor/Pastoral Associate
      • Jul 2014 - May 2015

As this was a completely new church, my role was to support Ryan Sim in everything I could. I helped to create content for his app Redeem the Commute, which helped people grow in faith while on their commute. I preached. Together, we created a new service in a local school, that was based off of the material and structure of the Anglican Service, but allowed for all ages to participate, understand, have fun, connect with one another and most importantly grow in faith. As was our goal, we saw many unchurched or dechurched begin to explore faith for the first time. We also organized numerous events and went door to door to both share faith and invite people in. I wrote, co-produced and acted in a Canadian short film, written for the Reelworld Film Festival. The Sound that Broke the Silence In a time where people already struggle to connect, what would happen if suddenly silence fell on our world. How do our characters come out of the ever growing tragedy and find hope? As a co-producer I was in charge of securing funding, locations, casting, and creating a team. This was all made possible with the help of a great team. I wrote, co-produced and acted in a Canadian short film, written for the Reelworld Film Festival.
