I recruited Phil in 2008 to reinvigorate the sales & marketing function to the next level. He provided new strategic thinking and direction, as well as wider support to the business, as part of my senior management team. Despite the very deep recession, which coincided with Phil’s appointment, the business grew and diversified into new products and services as well as extended its reach beyond traditional sectors. Digital Transformation • Following the acquisition of "Constructionline" by Capita, acted as Senior Product Owner for the digital transformation. • Provided knowledge and input into Service Design review which created direction for key revenue and efficiency gains • Developed the Target Operating Model with the transformation consultancy – including mapping process swim lanes, analytics/BI vision, and architecture for the new platform • Workshoped and supported the UX/UI developments, prototype testing, and user stories creation. Prior to the Transformation project I was part of the Capita acquisition team • In 2014 I was the Constructionline “subject matter expert” seconded to the Capita Acquisition team that subsequently acquired the Constructionline business from the Government for £35million • I helped the acquisition team navigated the bid process, including prequalification. • I worked with Finance to produce a 3 year business plan which underpinned the purchase. Day to day I was responsible for customer acquisition and retention for this digital business which saw continual growth including through the recession. I led the team of 30 including business development, account management and key account teams, plus marketing, service development and project management. The team was at the forefront of the doubling of the business and producing 40%+ margins. I provided strategic input into developments including: the creation of a health & safety accreditation business plus allied services providing sizeable future growth potential; supporting industry initiatives such as PAS91 and SSIP with third party industry stakeholders to enable the business to build influence and a strong network of allies; and developing strategic focus on new market sectors and clients to boost sales and improve customer VFM.

      I led the marketing function as this FTSE 250 business tripled in size to £350m and became widely accepted as number one in its sector. The role covered the full marketing scope; research, pricing, product development, sector development, communication and branding. The business was very acquisitive, and I managed research as part of good corporate governance into target companies, image perceptions, sector sizing, etc. and re-branded 12 acquisitions. I managed analysis & insight into price competition, customer buyer behaviour and value perceptions enabling regular price increases. this and other actions helped to support continued strong margins. Research showed the growing influence of key accounts in strategic market sectors. This justified the development and maintenance of a key account CRM database, data interrogation, plus regular key account communications. The group’s key accounts strategy was a cornerstones of its success. I led the development of the group’s market focus on the issue of Health & Safety. Over four annual campaigns on key issues, Speedy developed a clear market differentiation. Consultation with outside bodies including the HSE, gave the campaigns real added value for customers. Ground breaking developments gave the company great visibility, PR coverage and contributed to the winning of two National Business awards and four marketing awards. The work was praised by the Minister for Health & Safety. The campaigns also benefitted business growth through helping to establish new products, grow existing accounts and open new accounts. We supported the financial team on Report and Accounts, CSR reports, PLC website, and AGMs. And for the Supply Chain team we organised road shows and supplier conferences. I managed the external PR agency and gained over £500,000 EAV from trade PR coverage in 2006 I led the group’s marketing strategy and successfully launched the business in Ireland
