As a Graduate Electrical and Telecommunications Engineer, I am given the opportunity to get a fair exposure and to familiarize myself with all Systems and subsystems of Bmobile 4G lte Mobile Network as an operator Specializing in Voice and data in both PNG and Solomon Islands. I am Currently attached under the Technical Division On 2 Weeks Shift Rotation spanning 4 months on the ensuing Mobile Network systems; 1. Power Division - On/off Grid (hybrid) Power Installations and Monitoring. Software platform used; Neteco (Integrated Power management for Huawei DG and BTS Power Cabinets mainly for 3G/4G sites), Ascot (MS for off Grid Hybrid remote sites with no PPL/mains), and Deep Sea Electronics ( DSE is used to monitor FG-Wilsons and Deutz AC Generators on site) - Did routine checks and fault attendance with Power team on Power Issues to ensure the BTS equipment are operatrional. Basic Checks/tests carried on Gensets esp Filters (fuel/Oil), Run hours, Voltage, RPM output, battery Voltage and Frequency. 2. Radio Access Network (RAN)-Transmission -Did New Link Installation and Link Upgrades. -Migrating traffic from Dataco Fibre Link to New Microwave Radio Link RTN950 (XPIC 1+0 protection) for old BMHQ to Telikom Rumana. This is to increase link/Channel Capacity from 100Mbps to 400Mbps and to cut cost from leasing fibre Link from Dataco. -Employed Huawei Network Cloud Engine (NCE) and U2020Transmission to for Configuration, O&M and NMS 3. Supervise Huawei Subcontractors during installations for Huawei BTS3900/DBS3900/BTS5900 (Power, Wireless, Transmission, and IP Core equipment). Employed and familiarized the following OM/NMS platforms; U2000MBB/U2020MBB (for RF & Wireless), U2000transmission/U2020transmission (For Microwave IP Radio Link RTN900 series Configuration), Genex Probe & Genex Assistant ( Network Coverage/KPI Audit-Drive test and Single Cell Site Verification), eNSP (Huawei Network Simulation Platform), and Cisco Packet tracer (Cisco Network simulation Platform).. 3. Making sure standard procedure is followed as Per required Standards. 4. Provide technical support to Contractors and Clients. 5. Attend to sites on; -Huawei Hybrid Power System, RF DT and SSV Testing, Wireless (BSS) and Transmission Equipment (Microwave Radio Link) , IP Core equipment configurations and troubleshooting, Automatic Power Backup System, & DG Troubleshooting & configuration on NetEco. In the pursuit to modernize PNGASL, ATM was a newly establish section under PNGASL Air Traffic Control to decentralize technical roles for the NiuSky Project undertaken. My main Tasks as an intern under the ATMJ is to observe and partake in the following: 1. Technical Operations Centre [TOC] -Remote PRTG O&M on Hybrid power system, Network system, Air Condition, & Radio Links. Thence escalating faults/intermittencies to ground technicians to attend, rectify & revert for report. 2. Voice Communications: -Operations &Maintenance of HF &VHF radio network system. 3. Network & Remote Control Systems. -Physical &software configuration of Cisco routers &switches, cable installations, terminations and interfacing different devices &software in PNGASL network systems. -O&M on Microwave ring network& Radio networks (terrestrial back haul Links), VHF sites & Satellite links (redundant links). 4.
