As SME Trainer I am responsible for training new hire Caretakers on how to perform animal husbandry according to SOP’s and policies. Other duties included maintaining accurate and detailed records of animal health and breeding/mating logs., performing prescribed treatments on various animal species, assisting investigators, under the supervision of the senior technician with technical procedures that included sex identification, bleeding of experimental animals, harvesting tissues (pinna samples, tail snips) using aseptic techniques , implanting microchips, and preparing blood smears.

I submitted and prepared required support documents as directed, and followed appropriate SOP’s, safety procedures and quality assurance guidelines for all BSL’s responsibilities. I also performed daily animal health checks and changed animal caging, which included feed and water, according to SOP’s and policies. I had to maintain daily animal census sheets, observation reports and mortality logs, and also examine, identify and properly house incoming animal shipments according to SOP’s .
