Library Assistant-Makerspace
-
Dec 2020 - Present
I do all the normal duties of a Library Assistant, which include working a reference desk, answering questions in person or over the phone, assisting patrons on library computers, and assisting patrons in utilizing library resources. In addition, however, I am trained to work in the Makerspace, where we have machines like a 3D printer, vinyl cutter, laser cutter, and many other things to tinker with and be creative. I am familiar enough with all of these so as to assist patrons in learning how to utilize the machines themselves.

This position was in the circulation department. I checked books out to patrons, checked them back into the library, and shelved them. This job also included working the front desk and drive-thru, and assisting patrons with their requests, whether it be paying a fine (or disputing it), placing a hold, updating account information, or registering a new library card.
