We do this through Human Centred Data Science - a way of understanding data better by understanding the people and context shaping it. As a Data Science Intern at Synthesis, I frolic through fields of numbers with a team of cultural strategists and engineers to find, layer, and create original data sets to identify previously unidentified gaps in the consumer landscape for our partners. - Work with a global sustainability NGO to understand consumer interests in order to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment. Output included analysis of search volumes and results via open data sources from Google. - Layer social data from Twitter and YouTube for a global entertainment business to understand addressable audiences across UCAN and prioritise pathways into growing audiences and fandoms.
