Constituency Assistant

Jun 2022 - Aug 2023
As a casual, seasonal employee for MLA Derek Mombourquette, I assist the constituents of Sydney-Membertou Nova Scotia. Making and answering calls, and responding to emails, I had to respond to challenges in real time. I corresponded with government officials, liberal party members, and constituents in behalf of the MLA. A large part of the role requires finding fast solutions to complex problems. I established rapport with community and government organizations to help citizens in need. In December of 2022, I coordinated an event for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal ceremony. I contacted the venue, catering service, and worked to bring together a professional reception for the medal recipients. Show less

Student Alumni Relations Representative
-
Feb 2023 - Apr 2023
In this position, I helped with King's alumni Phoneathon for their Annual Giving Fund. This involved calling alumni and establishing rapport, incentivizing donations, and writing letters. It was a great experience to communicate with alumni of all ages, and build my phone etiquette and community outreach skills. Outside of my regular workload, I was asked to write an email appeal letter to alumni. I was told to write about my time at King's, and working for the Phoneathon. I came up with this letter, which was sent to thousands of alumni, parents, and friends of the university. In just one day of the email being sent out, an additional $2300+ were donated to the fund. Ambassador
-
Sep 2021 - Jun 2022
As an International Student Ambassador, I had the responsibility to organize events for exchange students, and make sure that they felt comfortable in the new school environment. I participated in my school's 'International Buddy' program in grades 9-10, before COVID ensued. Only in my Grade 12 year were exchange opportunities available again, so I assumed the role at the end of my high school career. Being an ambassador required taking a summer course to gain a certification. In the program we learned about varying cultures and how to navigate problems arising from linguistic and cultural differences. I was able to learn a lot from interactions with different students, and help organize fun events (limited by COVID restrictions). Show less

Drama and Dance Instructor
-
Sep 2017 - Sep 2021
I worked at Kostume Kapers Ltd. in Sydney, Nova Scotia for four years. As a drama and dance instructor, I worked with students aged 4-14 during my time in this role. From September-June I worked casually as I was a full-time student. Each summer, I worked around 30-40 hours a week as a camp councillor at both day and residential camps. Aside from my teaching responsibilities, I also organized shows, games and crafts. I adapted to COVID protocols and took extra measures to ensure a germ-free environment. As my time at Kostume Kapers went on, I gained more responsibilities and took more initiative. In 2019, I acted as a musical director for the group's winter production, 'Twas the Night'. During my time in the role, I directed over 20 small-scale drama performances, and choreographed over 10 competition dance routines. Show less
