A key element in its strategy is the creation of a number of technology innovation centres (called Catapults) to allow UK businesses to access world class equipment, expertise, advice and networks supporting their growth. I acted as "interim CEO" to develop and launch the Digital Catapult whose remit is to accelerate the impact that the digital revolution is having on most parts of the economy by acting as a networked and collaborative digital development partner. The Catapult is targeted to become a world-class centre of applied research and innovation with a turnover of £30million p.a. in the medium term. Having written the business case and raised the initial £multi-million core funding, I supported recruitment of the permanent CEO and other CXOs, the development of the senior management team, and launched the initial R&D projects with partners. As CEO, I launched the Centre to stimulate and support entrepreneurial culture and exchange within and between London Business School and UCL. Raising multi-£millions from the UK government, it stimulated and supported the creation of new curriculum, departments and student led entrepreneurship activities at both universities. Raising a further £4.5 million, I created a year-long scholarship programme for cohorts of postgraduate scientists to support their work on live commercialisation… Show more As CEO, I launched the Centre to stimulate and support entrepreneurial culture and exchange within and between London Business School and UCL.
