As CEO of the Mathematical Association of Victoria (MAV), Peter has effectively represented the views of the association, its Council and members as a key stakeholder in various VCAA , DET and national forums, consultations and panels. This representation has been measured, critical and constructive, with a clear recognition of the independence of the MAV and the diversity of views, interests, and concerns of its members. Peter is also a strong advocate for consideration and balance of voice in discussion.

Over recent years, I have worked closely with Peter in many different capacities within The Mathematical Association of Victoria (MAV). As a Board Member, I witnessed Peter taking the association from strength to strength. Peter applied high quality leadership skills to implement the strategic plan developed in partnership with himself and the Board. This required high level communication skills and strengths in his ability to work with a range of different people; both of which Peter excelled at! I have also had the pleasure of working with Peter as a contractor for MAV. In every dealing with him, Peter has always been highly supportive and willing to offer assistance as required. His knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy and publishing has been of great assistance during my work with him at various stages. Through all of my work with Peter, I have witnessed first hand the respect and rapport that he is able to develop with his staff, Board members, contractors and other external partners. His strengths in this area have helped him to create a thriving working environment for everyone involved. I have also witnessed the positive impact Peter has had in his role of CEO, in respect to what the association has been able to deliver for it's members, and the broader community. I highly recommend Peter Saffin as a leader in his field.
