Provided leadership in creating a new organizational vision and strategic plan, ensuring broad ownership and commitment with a diverse set of stakeholders. Provided direction and support to both technical and state programme teams by focusing on the strategic picture, stimulating personal achievement, creating opportunities for growth and an enabling environment. Supervised the programme comprising a range of projects, including CARE's largest health programme; the launch of a $10 million DfID funded Micro-Finance project; a highly acclaimed Education project and the successful design of a 14 million Euro rural development project with the EU focused on the rights of rural families and producers. Launched a new sector for producer agriculture. Provided leadership for CARE's $15 million response to the major Cyclone disaster in Orissa in 1999. As a key member of the senior management team this position required significant mission management, HR, finance, negotiation and representation skills. In particular relationships were built and maintained with both the central and State level Indian Governments, USAID, WFP, UNDP, WHO, DFID, EU, in a complex operating environment.
