Lead investigation and aided in writing of manuscript researching the feasibility of rapid detection and identification of SARS-CoV2 using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. Processed bacterial and viral samples in blood, saliva, and other media for data analysis using FTIR. Aided in both experimental and product design to ensure the isolation and concentration of bacterial and viral samples. Managed my own project within the Center for Devices and Radiological Health with the aim to understand how process parameters of electrospinning effect the morphology and fiber diameter of polymer scaffolds. Analyzed scaffold morphology and fiber diameter from images taken by scanning electron microscopy using image analysis software ImageJ. Presented poster at the FDA White Oak Summer Student Poster Day. Aided supervisors in a lab that ultimately aims to recellularize lung scaffolds for patients with end-stage organ failure. Oversaw the decellularization of human, pig, and ostrich lungs that were later used for experiments and recorded the results of each protocol step. Cooperated with lab partners to quantify various proteins in lung tissues. Observed lab procedures such as surgeries and scanning electron microscopy that enhanced my knowledge of laboratory techniques.
