Events and Visitor Services Assistant
-
Sep 2016 - Present
I am currently working in the venue hire team at We The Curious, helping to deliver a wide range of events from the planning and set up, through the execution and the shutting down afterwards. This role requires me to engage with a variety of clients from many different organisations, from charities to businesses and schools. Either alone or in a team, I help make sure that the event goes smoothly, making sure everything is set up perfectly in alignment with the clients wishes, and making sure any foreseeable problems are addressed far in advance. This role has given me great insight into the inner workings and vast logistical challenges of a large science based organisation. In visitor services I am part of the team which is responsible for welcoming each and every person that enters our venue. From families to school groups, contractors to corporate clients, as front of house I provide a warm and friendly atmosphere from the moment a guest enters the venue to the moment they leave. As a first port of call for visitors this role often involves solving a wide range of problems or situations that may arise throughout the day. Show less

Front of House Supervisor

Sep 2015 - Nov 2017
The Windmill pub in Bristol is a busy and popular community pub built on customer service. There is a large emphasis on high quality food and drink and making sure food service runs smoothly is an important part of the role. As a local community pub there was also a huge customer service element to the job, as most people who came in did so regularly for the warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. There are also regular events such as quizzes, films and music nights which I was required to take part in organising and running. Show less

Learning Support Assistant
-
Sep 2015 - Jul 2016
I worked in learning support through an education recruitment agency here in Bristol. My role varied between assignments but overall I provided support to teachers, classes and individual students, helping to deliver lessons, maintain good behaviour and carry out activities. Through this role I learned a lot about being adaptable at work, as every day can be a completely new challenge in a different area of Bristol, requiring me to think on my feet to best suit the environment of a particular class or school. When I joined the agency in October I was completely new to working in education, however I quickly found myself in high demand in various schools, and by January had secured a long term position in a large primary school in Kingswood. In this role I covered many age groups from reception to year 6, working with children with various behavioural, learning and physical needs. Show less
