  I originally joined RM in Europe in 2007 and was responsible for consigning numerous important cars and single-owner collections from around Europe and was an integral part of the team that launched RM Auctions into Europe, helping to establish core sales for the business in London, Maranello, Monaco and Villa Erba. Notable among my consignments were the Prevosti Collection of 20, mainly Italian, sports and GT cars from the 1960s at the inaugural London auction in 2007, the ex-Park Lane Showroom Maclaren F1 which broke all records in 2008, the ex-Fangio, 1956 Works Ferrari 290 MM, which at the time established a new auction sales price for RM Sotheby’s, selling for $28,050,000, as well as the Laidlaw Collection of sports-racing cars. I am extremely excited to re-join the Team at RM Sotheby’s in the capacity as Chairman for the UK EMEA. Much has evolved in the business of selling high profile collectors motor cars in the past 5 years. New ways of selling cars, new models of cars achieving classic or collectible status, new players in the market, new partners, sponsors and relationships and much innovation. It’s now so much easier for me to see how RM Sotheby’s leads this industry, having benefitted from 5 years away and viewed through a slightly different lens. What really motivates me is to be part of a great business that has grown organically and has always been creative, innovative, pragmatic and, from the ground up, driven by enthusiasm and knowledge of the product. More recently through its Global Partnership with Sotheby’s, RM has benefited from expanded international reach, a burgeoning client base, multi-category sales combining a varied offer for the connoisseur and considerable financial clout, way beyond its nearest competitors. Add to this the partnerships RM Sotheby's continues to enjoy with leading Global Brands, and I see endless opportunity for innovation, creativity and growth fuelled by a much enhanced roster of services.
