  My position is to manage and improve the mechanical engineering on a production line at Tata steel, Trostre in the Coatings department. I manage the risk assessing, permit to work, fluid power isolation and ensure all engineering activities comply with all health, safety, and environmental requirements. I consider operational and engineering priorities of the plant to optimize its performance for production. I devise planned maintenance and inspection schedules and ensure that they are observed to meet statutory and company requirements. Determine and allocate engineering resources and materials to enable each shift to meet the needs of the maintenance schedules using the Companies SAP System. I plan, prioritise, control and manage maintenance activities with Tata and contract resource.I also manage the training and development of staff to provide a safety conscious and technically competent workforce.Monitor and control budgets for spares, materials and labour to keep within limits.I review engineering practices and improve them to enhance engineering and plant performance.Preparing and submitting minor capital and major maintenance submissions to ensure plant availability performance and improvement.Review and update, as necessary, all mechanical and Process Fluid Drawings. Review and create where required risk assessments and safe working procedures for safe working on applicable equipment. Develop condition based maintenance (CBM) in the department and promote engineering excellence. My position is to lead and manage an engineering team for my area of plant. I also take a lead role in mentoring Graduate engineers and Apprentices within my department and have taken on extra responsibility in becoming the Secretary for the Works Mechanical Committee along side my role as an MSE.
