To achieve this I have a team of Business Development Managers that seek new retail and trade sales opportunities. We currently have over 600 sales outlets nationwide. My role also involves all national marketing and brand awareness opportunities including public facing exhibitions and shows, direct marketing strategies and TV and print media advertising. Shortly after the NZ market was established and running successfully I launched this range of products into the Australian market in April 2015. Show less

The Wooden Toy Box was formed at a very exciting moment in time for the online retailer - around 2008 the internet was now fairly established but the fear of buying online still very much existed. I started The Wooden Toy Box with a distribution agreement with one of the worlds largest and most respected wooden toy manufacturer, HAPE. With a small but dedicated team we beat the streets going to public exhibitions such as Home Shows to promote and sell our range of toys and the people behind the computer screen. Because this area was so new no systems connected together and the process was very manual. Using my Navman back ground I integrated and automated our website, courier system, accounting system, order system and stock system to allow us to run our business with extreme efficiencies, meaning we could pass on great prices to our customers. Today, and in our 10th year The Wooden Toy Box has a strong reputation for its excellent customer service, its ease of use, its speed of delivery and its continued top quality range of wooden Toys mainly still from HAPE. • Investor and Mentor in Small Business Development
      • Jun 2005 - 2009

After the sale of my interests in Navman Wireless I formed a small consulting / investment company to help mentor or invest in small business to help them start up or grow. One of these investments was with the designer and inventor or the now CAVIUS Smoke alarm product range in Denmark. One other opportunity that came from this was to meet the German owner of one of the worlds latest wooden toy manufactures. From this meeting I decided to start The Wooden Toy Box online toy store. A fantastic product range of toys, using a rapidly growing channel to market - ie the internet. Back when buying online was a personal challenge to most. Brightside Consulting was closed to make time and space for the further development of CAVIUS (which I became a shareholder in) and The Wooden Toy Box. Show less

    • Managing Director
      • Jan 2001 - Oct 2004

Navman Wireless Ltd was a joint venture between Navman, myself & my business partner and our company Wireless Solutions. This entity was formed for the development of a cutting edge vehicle tracking system utilising new technologies that we emerging in the late 1990 / early 2000. These being GPRS for data transfer, the internet with online digital mapping for real time viewing of a fleet, online reporting applications for history review. We launched this in the UK with Vodafone 12 months before Vodafone released the network facility nationwide. We were a company that created the worlds first GPRS/web based AVL system, we had Vodafones first GPRS service provision agreement, with the Bank of Scotland we create the first lease model to include airtime and hardware, the first system to use web based digital mapping and the first to be able to set up a nationwide structure of resellers for an AVL solution. We went on to do this in other countries internationally - and still growing. Show less

    • International Sales and Marketing Manager
      • Mar 1998 - Jan 2001

Initially I was responsible for the Sales and Marketing of Navman's Mobile Data Terminal to the international market. This was very quickly replaced with being involved in the functional design and feature requirements for the Navman Vehicle tracking System. I worked with the senior software and hardware designers to create a fully functional GPRS vehicle tracking solution - the first in the world. My role then was to commercially prepare this product for distribution into the European marketplace starting in the UK. I then moved to the UK to take up my new role as MD in a joint venture between NAVMAN and our company Wireless Solutions. Show less
