      IT Technology - ISO 10303 STEP implementation, PDQ, LTDRMy educational activity is focused primarily on ISO 10303 STEP (including lectures, labs and home tasks).       I had developed STEP post-processor for “APM Studio” CAD and since 2008 I being developing checker/healer for STEP models. Now this checker is SASIG PDQ-based, but I have the intention to implement ISO 10303 in checker development. Furthermore, I developed ACIS .sat postprocessor for APM Studio. Since 2012 I am developing Autodesk Inventor .ipt postprocessor. Considering low data quality of *.ipt models, the decision was made to convert internal Autodesk Inventor data to STEP with consequent healing and converting to internal APM Studio representation with just developed and tested software tools. The next planned step is development of IGES postprocessor.In 2015 I started ISO 16739 IFC implementation for APM WinMachine. The enabler of my solution is SDAI tools again. I have compiled IFC4 EXPRESS schema, got IFC data dictionary and loaded it into STEP repository.

      In 2000-2001 I took part in the development of educational & training courses on CALS initiative. Since 2008 I take part in activities on STEP parts translation to Russian (This work is meaningless & useless, I believe, but it allows me to insight to the relevant state of STEP standard. In 2007 I initiated the development of STEP viewer allowing view and investigate STEP geometry & product structure. There was intention to add the editing functionality for viewer, so this software was named "STEP CAD". This development is not completed yet due to extinction of funding.       Top Systems Inc., is one of Russian leaders in the field of CAD development (T-Flex CAD etc.), in 1997 the first purely Russian STEP converter was developed for T-Flex CAD with my SDAI implementation. Additionally, I developed IGES pre- & postprocessor for T-Flex CAD. Since 2000 the level of my involvement in Top Systems' activities was reduced due to I was busied hard in another projects. So, my collaboration with Top Systems is limited with consultations and periodical improvement of SDAI functionality by the orders of Top Systems. In 2012-2013 I took part in the development of RGK (Russian Geometrical Kernel). RGK was funded by Russian Federal Government, and Top Systems was the prime contractor. Definitely, my contribution was the development of STEP pre- & postprocessors for RGK.

      In 2006-2008 I took part in activities on implementing data communicating between CERN’s CAE system GEANT4 and CATIA v5 via ISO 10303 STEP. These activities were supported by the INTAS grant 06-1000012-8778. My contributions in joint efforts were: 1.STEP review where main principles of communicating had been outlined and 2. Experimental implementation of STEP pre- & post-processors for GEANT4.       The mission of NTO “Integro” was to develop suggestion on CALS (Continuous Acquisition & Life-Cycle Support) implementation in Russian industry. I took part in software development, including software tools for STEP exchange file (ISO 10303-21) handling. Concurrently I had developed my own SDAI (Standard Data Access Interface) implementation, i.e. programming tool for STEP data processing, corresponding to ISO 10303-24 Late Binding C.This SDAI implementation was used later in some software development projects, including STEP pre&postprocessor for T-Flex CAD, STEP pre&postprocessor for Lotsia PDM, postprocessor for APM Studio CAD/CAE system.

      The direction of my efforts was pointed to programming implementation of ISO 10303 STEP, beingdeveloped at that time. I had interacted with Mr. Bernd Wenzel, one of initial STEP authors. At 1990 April I visited Mr. Wenzel and demonstrated him results of my programming efforts. My suggestion was to develop standard library of programs for STEP data processing, and this suggestion was adopted by Mr. Wenzel.So, it can be considered that ISO 10303-22 SDAI (Standard Data Access Interface) is my invention.
