Wadi Degla Holding (WDH) is a global holding company with a diversified portfolio spanning 16 countries, including operations in the sports, telecommunications, real estate development, food & beverage, media, and education sectors. As an International Business Development Director, I orchestrate the identification, execution, and launch of new business operations in foreign markets to help grow the WDH international footprint. The first step in this process is to conduct and present field research, technical analysis, and competitor analysis to WDH stakeholders to select our target business development region. Once the region has been selected, I am then responsible for building relationships and negotiating partnerships with public and private sector leaders in the area. This includes serving as the face and voice of WDH to build trust, credibility, and excitement about WDH’s involvement in the region. After a business partnership is established, I am then responsible for managing all aspects of our foreign partner relations to ensure the success of our new business venture. During my tenure as International Business Development Director, I sourced and closed deals currently valued in excess of $400M. My most significant and recent project was the establishment of a brewery mega-project in Ethiopia.

This role included creating and identifying strategic business development plans, as well as forging partnerships with key decision-markers at our target companies. During my tenure as Business Development Manager, I sourced and closed five contracts with a cumulative value of ~$4.5M. Each sales cycle was approximately six months in duration.

As an International Business Development Manager, I drove the strategic direction and vision for the business development department, with an emphasis on sourcing and securing education sector projects. A large function of my role was to identify and secure new international business development opportunities to expand WDH’s footprint. I was also responsible for building relationships with community and partner leaders, including CEOs, university leadership, and foreign ministers. During my tenure as International Business Development Manager, I sourced and negotiated a $20M joint-venture deal with Webster University, an American non-profit higher education institution, to establish a new campus location in Ghana, West Africa. I also identified and closed a €5M deal to acquire and convert a hotel in Vienna into dorm facilities for Webster University.

Egypro Group is a global telecom service provider serving 40% of the major telecom operators in 24 countries. As a Sales & Marketing Manager, I was hand-selected to develop client relationships in Libya and Sudan in an effort to source and secure multi-million dollar contracts in one of the company’s most challenging markets. This included designing and activating custom sales strategies for the region, as well as developing and disseminating targeted marketing campaigns to build brand awareness with current and prospective clients. During my tenure as Sales & Marketing Manager, I developed strong relationships with our clients and partners, resulting in repeat business from 75% of our client base.
