During his SAIC career, Peter has coordinated and taught a wide range of classes, teaching in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Designed Objects (AIADO), Contemporary Practices, Arts Administration, Exhibitions Studies and serving as a Co-op Advisor. He has mentored a diverse group of students, from first year Contemporary Practice to graduate level design studios. In 1995, Peter received a faculty enrichment grant to continue his design research on the power and place of Disney architecture. Peter’s teaching is informed and impacted by his interdisciplinary models, experience with community engagement, and his own educative and participatory design pedagogy; he disseminates these values through his leadership, teaching, and mentorship. In collaboration with faculty colleagues, Peter co-wrote the syllabi for Design Matters that has proven to be a vital introductory exploratory class in design thinking through making at SAIC. Most recently, in 2012, Peter participated in the NAAB accreditation preparation. In Fall of 2013, Peter sat on the SAIC search committee for an Executive Director of Career Services and Cooperative Education. In 2013 - 2014, Peter, in partnership with Associate Professor Drea Howenstein, facilitated the GFRY Studio’s PUBLI©ITY, a trans-disciplinary engagement where new models for urban issues, such as public space, pocket parks and micro-city environments, are being generated.
