Starting October 2015 I joined faculty advisor Mark Starrett's effort to establish a beekeeping club on the University of Vermont campus. As eventual President, the club officers and I secured an apiary location, got Risk Management clearance and finally presented to the Student Government Senate for official club recognition. The UVM Beekeepers host regular events and speakers during the school year. My duties include the installation and tending of six honeybee colonies. Over 6 months, we secured over $3000 in donations to establish the apiary. Additionally, I played a major role in UVM's admittance to the BeeCampus USA affiliation with commitments to support and educate pollinator populations.
