Alasdair Macniven

Happy to recommend Peter Campbell - he was the determining factor in successfully progressing the planning, mobilisation, construction management and commissioning of the 20MW Nevendon battery storage project. His hard work, commitment and application of his extensive project's experience were instrumental to the success of the project against a challenging programme and resourced constrained project environment.

    • Project Design Manager - Westminster Bridge Underpass
      • Mar 1996 - Jul 1996

Project manager & draughtsman, from tender through design to acquisition & logistics. The underpass extended the Southern Embankment, from the Royal Festival Hall, westwards to St.Thomas Hospital. Under the ramp to the bridge itself, there were two long-defunct storm-drains (approx. 20ft dia), through which J.Murphy & Sons, cast a concrete tunnel connecting the easterly & westerly footpaths. Cornish granite was used to clad the structure to match the existing stonework. Project manager & draughtsman, from tender through design to acquisition & logistics. Architectural Sculptors were a small company of stone masons. I was offered a position because of my drawing board skills and engineering background. The director, Gareth Hughes was the last trained master-mason from Westminster Abbey. Somewhat of a career change at the time, and enjoyed my contract there thoroughly, working on ecclesiastic and heritage buildings in and around London. Seeing a project through from concept to completion I find one of the most rewarding aspects of life. Architectural Sculptors were a small company of stone masons.
