Abingdon School is a HMC School with in excess of 1000 boys of which approximately 180 are boarders. I am responsible for the entire sporting offering at Abingdon School; curricular and other half activities. We offer an extremely wide range of options for our boys to follow from the more traditional core sports of Rugby, Hockey, Football, Cricket & Rowing to the smaller sports of Fencing, Judo and Golf to name a few. Abingdon is a school full of exceptionally talented and motivated young athletes and I fully believe it is the Schools responsibility to enable them to realise their dreams. Under my leadership it is the department’s intention to enable the School to maintain its national reputation for sport whilst seeking to stretch and develop the wider sporting programme. With a continued focus on the traditional sports combined with managed growth of alternative options I am confident that we will provide an outstanding developmental setting to all of our boys that supports the strong academic ethos of the school and enables each young man to be in the best position when faced with the demands of a changing world. The Schools sporting facilities are excellent comprising of a sports hall, 25m 8 lane swimming pool, studio, squash courts, fitness suite, climbing wall, 3G Astro, 2 Hockey Astros, 8 Lane tartan track, 13 Rugby/Football pitches & 7 cricket squares.
