Leading the mechanical design in the North, currently delivering the stage 4 design to remove the legacy steam system from Northern Lincolnshire & Goole Trust hospital. The replacement technology will be a ground breaking water source heat pump, energy is supplied from 2 x 550 m deep abstraction open loop boreholes and 2 x 550 m deep recharge boreholes, all within the confines of the site, 3 x low temperature heat pumps, and 1 x high temperature heat pump will provide heating and cooling to the main site via the plant rooms. Site wide resilience will be provided by 3 x 2MW duel fuel boilers all destined for the existing energy centre. Proud to be delivering the mechanical solution for this decarbonisation scheme. I led the biomass team at Duncan Renewables, working with a variety of biomass boiler manufacturers to design and install the complete energy centre, the district heating and the plant rooms. Looking after 15 installers and 3 project managers was challenging but so rewarding. I think you need a role that keeps you on your toes, this one certainly ticked that box. After spending 8 years as a mechanical fitter/engineer in the printing industry, redundancy gave me an opportunity. I qualified for a six months full time retraining scheme run by a local authority to retrain gas engineers. British gas were one of the providers, completion and six further intensive months mentoring and proving at the centre of excellence led to the role of technical engineer. I excelled maintaining and repairing gas central heating systems and gas appliances in residential properties. I troubleshot electrical problems in heating systems and boilers, advised clients on the most effective remedies. Furthermore, I provided price quotes for system upgrades and maintained strict stock control to meet monthly financial targets. Show less
