Fantastic educator, with a deep heart, that cares about the success of our children. The harder the child the more Perry strives to see them succeed. He doesn’t give up, and he doesn’t get discouraged, no matter how challenging the child (I know this personally). He taught in my child’s private school, and I saw how much he cared for his students. Now I’m so lucky to have him work one on one with my 4th grader. He goes the extra mile, and does what it takes to get his students to succeed.

I had the absolute pleasure of serving as Perry’s General Studies Principal while he worked as a 3rd grade Educational Assistant at Pressman Academy. During this time I was able to observe him as he worked with students of all ability levels. With patience and compassion, he used his instructional prowess to help scores of students not only succeed, but excel. Further, his relaxing demeanor and wonderful sense of humor always made those around him feel at ease. Though my time working with Perry was relatively short, the memories will last a lifetime!

When we reached out to a trusted family friend who is well respected in the education field to help us find a tutor for our 5 year old boy about to enter Kinder, she immediately gave us Mr T’s information. She knew he would be a perfect fit for our extremely energetic, inquisitive and often hard to keep engaged son. From the second we spoke on the phone I knew Mr T was the one! We wanted to focus specifically on math and reading and these two subjects are his passion! He asked all the right questions about my son both as a student and as a human. He was funny, thoughtful and his 15 years of student teaching experience was apparent right away. He met with my son the next week and they immediately hit it off. Mr T has the ability to keep even the youngest, most high energy students interested, laughing and learning. A++++ learning professional!!!!

Concurrently, I prioritize the cultivation of organization and planning skills and the intentional empowerment of these students, inside and outside of their classrooms.

2017 - Present: One-on-One Short and Long-Term Tutoring - Assignments, L/T Tests and Projects Combined with Guidance to Strengthen Fundamental Academic and Life Skills, including: Internalized Confidence of Self, Willingness, Organization Strategies, Self-Advocacy, and RESILIENCE! Collaborating with student, teachers, and parents, I strategically focus on the most meaningful and accessible academic and organizational tools available for comprehension and achieving mastery of the designated academics. One of my primary goals is to EMPOWER our kids to recognize and "own" their successes - whether "small" achievements or "monumental" - in academic, social, and emotional endeavors. As a tutor, my overarching goals are to cultivate an intrinsic drive for learning; a willingness to try that which may seem impossible; understanding what "giving your best" looks like; learning to be "okay" with a lack of immediate success; measured risk-taking; and honoring and building on the successes that will likely follow. Finally, I've discovered that, when coupled with sincere guidance, trust, meaningful support, and tangible successes, students CAN and WANT to learn how to "turn down the volume" of their often misguided internal thoughts of, "I can't...", "I'll never...", "I hate doing...", "I'm bad at...", while simultaneously building self-awareness, resilience, and new-found willingness to take on challenges. My most recent Professional Development includes three years of training in Singapore Math; Lucy Caulkin's "Writers Workshop"; GOOGLE Classroom; and K-5 STEAM curriculum. Show less
