I worked with at-risk, court-placed youth in a locked down, residential facility. I was tasked with maintaining the expectations of the house, care for the kids, and build relationships with them in order to help them learn how to cope with the trauma they may have received earlier in life and help them develop life skills. This was a great opportunity for me to help youth groups on short-term mission trips participate in sports and children's ministry to reach the people of Tijuana and Reynosa for Christ. I was able to join some teams, lead the sports ministry for all teams, and serve in many behind-the-scene opportunities such as cooking, cleaning bathrooms, etc. This was an invaluable experiences that helped me realize learn all of the different things that are necessary to make ministry happen.
