I started working with Josh in April 2014, and had the privilege of working with him and learning under him until his transition to KVH Industries in June 2015. While he was yet working at MetroCast: his drive, excitement, and knowledge for networking was obvious in every task he took. He is always willing to jump right into any project without fear, and always does the best job he knows how. His projects show pride met with an expert level of knowledge. For this reason, I recommend Joshua St. Hilaire!

Supporting all network infrastructures, including Brocade and Cisco enterprise routers and switches, optical network elements, and an enterprise class data-center. Coordinating/participating in thorough change control process for the planning/implementation of new network technologies and change requests for current technologies. Troubleshooting all incidents and network problems in-depth, while accurately communicating technical issues to non-technical staff and thoroughly documenting for future reference. Documenting network infrastructure, including all major (1/10/100Gbps) circuits, DWDM and multilayer core chassis, VLANs, OSPF/BGP topology, and custom topologies for fiber business clients. Constant use and maintenance of monitoring tools (iGlass/Cacti/WhatsUp) as new network devices are tested, added into production, and decommissioned. Coordinating with departments during on-going incidents and during problem resolution follow-up, including Data Center Technicians, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Digital Security. Monitoring and documenting network infrastructure to ensure that the current implementation meets capacity needs for use of applications and services provided. Multi-tasking and prioritizing to ensure resolution of most critical infrastructure issues first, while still providing appropriate attention to all other incidents. Critical analysis and creative problem-solving when faced with insufficient documentation/access to determine root cause.

As the primary point of escalation/support for the entire infrastructure, utilized effective multi-tasking and prioritization to ensure timely and appropriate problem resolution and incident documentation. Planned network changes/addition of new technologies, communicated the scope of plans to the CIO, and led implementations. Implemented new wireless infrastructure to cover dead-zones, as well as built an isolated guest wireless network. Migrated static routing between MPLS-connected branches to an OSPF over GRE configuration for ease of management. Coordinated addition of second ISP for redundancy/failover and built backup circuit connectivity to partner organizations via IPSec VPNs. Was responsible for OS and hardware upgrades for all network devices, including hosts, printers, wireless APs, switches, routers, and servers. Maintained PRTG Network Monitoring server and utilized problem-solving skills to resolve anomalies.
