I worked directly with General Motors Audit Services Management (GMAS) and the Audit Teams providing them with data analytic support for audits and special projects. I also worked with other department management in an effort to have them understand the value of continuous monitoring for their area. I wrote both ad hoc and continuous monitoring analytic scripts using ACL after brainstorming with others within audit on the risks. I also provided training and guidance to the audit staff in developing data analytic skills. Working in the Data Analytics Group at GMAS was exciting because it was a cutting edge program being developed and I consider myself very fortunate to have been a part of such a great team! Show less

This was an exciting time. I did not work in Internal Audit but in Corporate Security. My Director and I spent much of our time brainstorming about the various ways to look for indicators of fraud within the data. Our responsibility was to provide the Security Managers with leads. My Director had the longevity and experience with risky areas while I had the data analytic skills to pull indicators out of the data. We were successful on several occasions with providing solid leads to the Security Managers. I spoke of one analytic in particular on an ACL webinar at the time. My Director at CCE was a very knowledgeable man and as a team we worked great together. The best part is we made it work even though he was located in Georgia and I was in Florida and then Colorado. This was my beginning. The foundation of my internal audit career. I had some great times at this employer and when I left I took with me some very valuable audit technique knowledge that has stayed with me throughout and has benefited other organizations.
