Jody Schaffer MS, CVA (she/her)

Peita and I worked closely together during her entire tenure at San Francisco AIDS Foundation. She was instrumental in deepening the relationship between the Development Team and Volunteer Services to maximize the fundraising impact of the SFAF volunteering program. Together we implemented corporate engagement strategies that increased volunteer-related fundraising to more than $165,000 in her first year at SFAF. Peita is deeply committed to serving the HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ+ communities and appreciates the valuable contributions made by volunteers. She not only strengthened development team's relationships with Volunteer Services, she also built bridges and enhanced communications with our many programs teams. She created corporate partnerships that dramatically increased visibility in the community for the our programs, but also increased financial support for them. She has an almost otherworldly ability to connect donors and funders to our mission. Although I did not report to her, I often participated in team meetings and events that she led and I observed her to be an excellent leader, skilled at inspiring and encouraging staff to perform at their best. She was also willing to step out of her comfort zone to learn new strategies, step in to new roles and take on challenging projects. In every instance that she pushed herself, she excelled. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with her will assuredly be grateful for her commitment, her joyful outlook and her expertise.

Peita is a leader who offers a rare mix of vision, charisma, collaboration, and ability to get a job done. We had the opportunity to work together during her entire tenure at San Francisco AIDS Foundation (SFAF) and I was thrilled to work alongside her as her peer when she earned her promotion to director of development, then to senior director. Peita is the type of leader you want in your organization when something unexpected happens (like a global event that shifts a huge vertical in your fundraising model). Her thoughtful partnership, and super creativity allowed SFAF to sustain it's revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic, brought new partners to the table, and helped her team hit their goals. It was very impressive to watch. I consider myself very fortunate to work with Peita, and I hope you will feel the same way if you're lucky enough to work with her in the future.
