Bio
Cรฉsar Augusto Missio Marcon
Pedro joined the GAPH during his second year as a computer science student at PUCRS. During this time he assisted our research under my supervision. Pedro main activity was the implementation of a SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) prototype using VHDL. Besides that, he also helped implementing the Java interface for a SysmteC software/hardware co-simulation tool maintained by our group. Pedro is a hardworking person, eager listener and fast learner.
Arnaud Legrand
Pedro conducted his PhD under my supervision. Pedro is a dedicated and hard working person. During his PhD, he studied the validaty of fluid network models for large scale distributed computing system simulation. This problem is mostly overlooked by researchers in our community as it involves conducting tedious experiments and analysis to obtain an in-depth understanding of the flaws and good properties of such models. Pedro did an amazing work and proved that some models previously proposed in the litterated were not suited for such simulation as they could not account for important features of the TCP protocol. He proposed a pragmatic alternative that solves most practical issues and which is now the default network model of the open-source simulation toolkit SimGrid.
