    • Quality Control Inspector
      • Apr 2012 - Aug 2012

      • Learned how to identify defects on the commodities we handle at Frontera Produce. After learning the defects, I created a Quality Control reference manual, which included the name of the defects and the pictures of the defects, in order to facilitate the learning curve for future Quality Control inspectors. • Used prior experience and knowledge to create a formula based spreadsheet for some of the commodities we handle. This decreased the amount of time spent on paperwork by all Quality Control inspectors by approximately 85%.• Went to different warehouses around the Rio Grande Valley to check the quality of the product before we made the decision to buy it. Had to make a decision based on the quality of the product and the availability of the product for any given day. If supply was scarce, I would make the decision to buy the product even though some cost might have to go into working due to the scarcity of the product.

    • Production Manager

      • Developed a Quality Assurance program that updated the program that was in place by implementing the use of Laptops and improving the traceability of the product. Although I had previously done scoresheets at Arbre Farms, I catered to the different aspect of the food business since it went from a processing plant to a packaging plant.• Interviewed people for the Line Leader positions and the Quality Assurance positions along with Sarah Greiner in order to scope out the best candidates. • A total of about forty eight people were under my supervision, including the line supervisors.

      • Designed and developed automated scoresheets by doing some programming on Microsoft Excel in order to make the lab-tech’s job more efficient and less error prone. During the British Retail Consortium Audit, some of the scoresheets we used were the ones I designed.• Learned all the grading and techniques and helped out in the lab when my help was needed. Was never afraid to lend a helping hand, however always delegating to the best of my ability in order to prevent the crew from being overwhelmed. • Investigated rejected material in various manners and assisted in coming to a conclusion of what went wrong, if anything. If we found something wrong, I addressed the problem by working with our lab-tech’s and making sure they understood the whole process in order to assure the quality we promise to our customers such as Nestlé, Red Gold, Campbell’s, and many others.
