As a solo practitioner, my goal has been to provide high-quality, practical legal advice and representation to individuals and small businesses. Because of my love for strategy and legal research/writing, much of my practice has been focused on business formation and contracts, as well as estate planning and probate. As outside general counsel for several small businesses, I provide guidance on issues of compliance, corporate governance, wage and hour laws, employment agreements, severance agreements, and non-competes. Thanks to my diversity of experience, I'm well practiced at diving headfirst into an issue, learning the law, and applying it for my client's benefit.

Adjunct Professor

I remotely co-taught an Upper-Level Writing Course entitled The Supreme Court at the University of Arkansas School of law in Fall of 2022. My co-instructor and I led our class through a study and discussions of the Court as an institution, how its role in our democracy has evolved and changed over time, and compared and contrasted major judicial philosophies. For their final project, students wrote their own Supreme Court opinion for one of the cases to be decided by the Court this term. We provided extensive feedback on their early drafts regarding both writing style and legal content.

As a member of Littler's then-new Flex Time Associate program, I handled a docket of employment discrimination claims filed with the EEOC or similar state agencies. My job began with investigating the claim by interviewing individuals and collecting and reviewing any relevant documents. On behalf of my clients, I responded to the claims in writing, worked with the assigned investigator, and handled and follow-up or further investigation. After five years with large, international law firms, I started my own solo practice. I focused primarily on litigation and intentionally took on a wide variety of case types, from family law and child protective service cases to breach of contract and estate planning. For areas of the law that were new to me, I leveraged my legal research skills to craft case strategies and learn what I needed to know in order to advocate effectively for my clients. I regularly appeared in courts through the state of Texas and gained extensive experience in courtroom advocacy. During this time, I also handled several Texas state-court appeals, including researching and writing briefs and appearing for oral arguments.

Associate Attorney

As an associate attorney at a national Labor and Employment law firm, I gained experience with employment issues of all types. I investigated and responded to hundreds of claims and charges of discrimination, which taught me how to interact with and gain the trust of people of all cultural and educational backgrounds. I conducted extensive legal research, often on complex matters involving both federal and state employment laws. Some of the best and most experienced attorneys in Texas taught me how to assess and successfully a litigate a case from the very first allegation through the final appeal. This included drafting pleadings, motion practice, all aspects of discovery and depositions, and making arguments before courts and government agencies.

I worked as a Park Ranger full-time during the summer and part-time while attending college. I interacted with the general public daily, enforced rules and regulations, provided information, assisted visitors with any issues that arose, and was a public face of the Beaver Lake project. I learned a lot about how to speak with people, defuse tense situations, and provide excellent customer service.
