Payton is a well balanced mix between intelligence, creativity and hard work. He doesn't only show a n unique coding capacity but also has a keen sense for design and UX, always worried about not only the what and how, but the why. He always used to push me back and come with new ideas and better-smarter ways to accomplish things. Discussing requirements and projects with Payton was always a pleasure.

Payton’s expertise as a frontend engineer is mesmerizing. He has a deep and thorough knowledge of CSS, always looking for a CSS answer before turning to JS. He is equally comfortable making Accessibility updates to a page as he is refactoring a React component to be more re-usable and readable. Coming from a background in design, Payton is at home studying designs, and communicating with designers to close all UI/UX loopholes, responsive issues, and missing use-cases. He can then take those designs, and write out clear and concise tickets to develop those designs into new components. In fact, he did this with an entire new section of our website; writing out an epic’s worth of tickets that the team was able to act on. Payton is an incredible mentor. He collaborates with developers of all levels, sharing his vast knowledge of frontend engineering to help less-experienced developers learn the best patterns and develop the best habits. But it works both ways: Payton is always open to learning, adopting new concepts and information from anyone and everyone. As his manager, I knew I could always count on Payton to get a ticket fully finished. Even if some aspect of the project was not fully outlined, Payton would gather the knowledge needed to make a decision, and then bring that to the table to be discussed. When Payton put a ticket in the DONE column, I knew it was completed. When my job became too full to focus on the development, I knew Payton would be there to help unblock the other developers, and get initiatives across the finish line. Payton is a hard-working, dedicated teammate, and good person. Interview this human.
