The experience of resettling refugees opened my eyes to a career path I now care deeply about. The opportunity to get to know people who have experienced so much tragedy and getting to resettle them in the US was an emotional and inspiring process. As I interacted with each person, I felt an overwhelming desire to do whatever possible to make their resettlement process as successful as possible.- Enrolled 20 women in an English literacy program.- Sorted and organized over 700 pounds of clothing and 14,000 pounds of homeware donations.- Shopped for/delivered 7,000 pounds of food.- Enrolled 100 students in school.- Set up and took families to appointments (Social Security, WIC, Public Health)- Nominated as "Member of the Round" by fellow teammates and team leader.

Communications and Training Intern

Dec 2020 - May 2021
Interning at the Peace Corps in the OOCIO was the ideal opportunity to assist people through means other than volunteering. I have always cared deeply about serving overs, but there is only so much one can do. While interning I had the remarkable experience of collaborating with people from all over the world to create products that would enhance the lives of others. I performed research as the editor of weekly and monthly newsletters reaching domestic and global audiences. I produced and implemented modifications to existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) while supporting staff programs and campaign rollout following agency regulations and guidelines. I prepared, researched, and maintained information sources of documents and files on the Sharepoint webpage. Additionally, I conducted observation sessions to identify and assist client and employee needs and expectations. I was also responsible for the Office of the Chief Information Officer’s shared mailboxes to communicate with staff and employees about alerts, outages, and requests. Toward the end of my internship, I was joined by a new intern. Due to the success of my previous six months, I was selected as a peer mentor for new interns to assist in developing and presenting orientation briefings, as well as, creating and preparing new intern onboarding packages.

Bakery Clerk
-
Sep 2017 - Aug 2019
Working at Jenny Cakes Bakery was such a sweet experience, literally. I learned the skills of how to work with others in limited quarters for the success of a local bakery. Throughout my years working at Jenny Cakes, I gained the valuable skills of hard work, determination, patience and communication. After being hired specifically for my decorating skills, the boss realized how much of an addition I was to the company and hired me to work the whole bakery. I worked independently to serve and collaborate with clients to create a product both they, and I could be proud of.

While working in the Office of Congressmen Engel I had the great opportunity to learn about the behind the scene tasks of politice. I spent my time organizing mail, replying to constituents, writing memos, and attending hearings are several of the tasks I performed while working as an intern in the office of the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Capitol Hill. My experience afforded me the opportunity to hold conversations with important members of the legislative branch, learn more about issues of national importance, and better understand the political process.
