My work in the Sullivan Lab is focused on chromosome dynamics during abnormal mitotic divisions. Current work is primarily related to Cohesin and its constituent functional roles during abnormal mitotic division as well as the rescue of said abnormal mitotic division.Work is also underway to better understand the functional structure of Cohesin subunits in relation to each other.Additional work involves understanding role of Great Wall Kinase in abnormal mitosis and generating a functional interactome of the GreatWall system. The focus of my work at UC Davis is in the creation of genetic circuits to modulate physiological responses in Haloarchaea, focusing primarily on the species Haloferax volcanii. Upon the completion and testing of the circuitry, I intend to expand their usage for the production of industrially valuable materials. Additional work includes phylogenetic analysis of a putative multi-domain RBS, as well as the testing of a novel Recombinant DNA technology I invented.
