Paul was fun to work with, always had interesting projects to collaborate on. Also a great corporate indoor cricket team mate.

I worked with Paul over a number of years at HainesAttract as part of a successful senior executive team. Something that remained constant over this time was Paul’s ability to understand a client’s challenge and turn this into a workable solution that consistently delivered results. Paul is an inquisitive, creative and analytical operator who I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone looking for a senior operator to provide guidance and solutions relating to marketing and advertising strategies.

As a Principal Adviser, I fall into the category of free-agent (trouble-shooter? Some may argue, more like trouble-maker). While this is my new position, I'm continuing to manage my old team(s) for the mean time. In this new role I'll have the opportunity to work on 'big' comms and marketing initiatives that may need some extra thinking and resource. Should be fun. I like IRD's goal of making tax easy to get right and hard to get wrong. Now all we have to do is turn tax legislation into: plain English; Maori; accessible to English as a second language folk; sign language etc ... what could be easier.Having combined our print and online content teams, I've moved on from Digital Marketing Manager (now split into Content Manager and Digital Experience Manager) to Principal Advisor. This means I am teamless but get to tackle hairy problems and projects. While a broad brief, I've no doubt I won't run out of challenges. Still 'broardly' operating in the web/digital/comms space.Really pleased to see our website coming top of the list for readability in a TransTasman Web Clarity Index undertaken by VisibleThread 6/16 - it's what we've been working towards for our customers. • Manager - Digital Marketing
      • Jul 2014 - Feb 2016

Follwing a restructure, I had the good fortune (and challenge) of further developing our website and social media offerings. Goal to help customers do what they need to online in an engaging and straightforward way. Key issue being that IRD website has significant volumes of content but very poor navidation and search providing signicant improvement opportunities. Able to significantly improving our SEO, utilsing GA to identify and improve high use pages, making the site responsive and building adopting a new approach to content writing and presentation. Introduced a Social Media Strategy for IR, negotiating significant concerns from a very conservative organisation. Completed a web improvement project focused on improving our content in response to customers most common searches. The stated objectives were achieved but also delivered a wide range of additional benefits. Show less

    • Manager - Internet & Print Publishing

Led the team (14) who prepared a wide range of regular online and print publications for IR. Included website content and managing IR's brand identity. Our goal was to bring IR's words to life and make tax easy for people to get right. Hey, everyone needs a challenge.

Have held a range of positions from Account Director to Creative Services Director. Key focus on Employer Branding and developing our Employee Comm's and Engagement offering - HainesImpact. The two are a nice fit and it's exciting to develop tools and strategies that see employees loving what they do and therefore delivering great results for the organisation. Given the recent 'hard times' most businesses have experienced, re-engaging employees is a task many orgns face. Have held a range of positions from Account Director to Creative Services Director.
