Bio
Jean-Luc BERTRAND
Dr. Paul Meier has been a close friend of mine for many years now. He is a psychiatrist with deep insights into human nature, genetically, emotionally and spiritually. I enjoyed co-authoring BLUE GENES (Tyndale House Publishers) with Paul. The French version is "Guerir du blues et de la depression, c'est possible !". Dr. Meier is well known in France (as well as most other parts of the world), and a documentary was even done on him for French television. He has also served as a consultant for the South African orphanage I founded and support, GENERATION AFRICA, where more than 2000 orphans whose parents died of AIDS are growing up and being properly educated. He also is Founder and Medical Director of a national chain of non-profit clinics that treat over 1000 clients each week. And in his "spare time" he has authored or co-authored 92 books so far, selling over 7 million copies in more than 20 languages, and has graciously travelled to many of those countries, often at his own expense, to train therapists around the world in the techniques he learned at Duke University Psychiatry Residency and developed from his 37 years of experience. He is my good and loyal friend. Dr. Jean-Luc Bertrand

Paul Meier MD is a psychiatrist, founder of a national chain of non-profit Meier Clinics, and has authored or co-authored more than 100 books (2 featured on Oprah), selling 8 million copies currently, in more than 30 languages. Five new books were completed and published in 2015-2016. In 2015, Paul completed Experiencing God Outside the Box, and Growing Stronger, and three in 2016 (Be Strong and Surrender, Meaning in Life, and Obtaining Peace). Paul continues to work on various projects, including delivering, in January of 2019, a two-hour conference on solutions to the opioid crisis to THE AWAKENING political group. Polititians from the USA and Great Britain were present and Dr. Meier was given their GREAT AMERICAN award for 2018. He was given a 30 lb AMERICAN Eagle carved out of one solid piece of marble, and the sculptor was present to help present it. From 1985-2005 he hosted a live, daily, one hour call-in program to about 2 million listeners daily on more than 400 stations in the USA and elsewhere. Paul currently is a co-host of Mental Health News Radio podcasts that are downloaded in 171 nations and are available on all Apple products, including SIRI, ALEXIS, U-TUBE, and some Smart TV Stations. Paul has four post-graduate degrees: an MS from Michigan State, MD from the Univ. of Arkansas, Psychiatry Residency at Duke Univ., and Seminary Degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. He has taught in many countries throughout the world, and currently sees clients daily at his Dallas area (Richardson, Texas) office (1-888-7-CLINIC, www.meierclinics.org. Clients come from around the world to stay in Dallas for 3 weeks of intensive, 7 hrs a day of therapy in his DAY PROGRAM. Dr. Meier or his Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioners see them daily for meds and Dr. Meier supervises their daily care by his trained staff. Show less

Founder and Medical Director

1976 - Present
Established an excellent, extensive and eclectic standard of care that included helping clients medically, emotionally, and spirituality. Set up clinics around the United States that maintained this standard of care and openness to the spiritual concerns of all, without being offensive to people of all faiths (or no religious faith at all). Only hired therapists (hundreds of psychiatrists, psychologists and therapists over the past 37 years) who would use a variety of techniques, including gestalt, CBT, analysis, insight-oriented and others, modifying them for each client individually rather than specializing in one technique and, like a cookie cutter, forced all clients to be treated by that singular method whether it best fit that client or not. I ask applicants what style of therapy they use, and if they name one, I do not hire them. If they say it depends on the client and are trained in an eclectic variety of techniques, I examine them further if they are. We have evolved into a large non-profit chain that has an international influence. Many of the therapists with writing and research skills have co-authored mostly "self-help" books that have sold over 7 million copies in over 20 languages, training therapists in many countries of the world, including Cuba, Russia, Turkey, all of South America, Israel five years in a row, Greece two years, and most of the European nations. We currently do or oversee over 3 million dollars a year of charitable care or education. My personal special love is my Dallas area Day Program, where people in crisis come from all over the world (and locally) to stay in nearby hotels but come to our outpatient clinic in Richardson, Texas for seven hours a day, five days a week, for an average of three to four weeks of intensive group, individual and educational therapy, getting approximately a year's worth of weekly outpatient therapy condensed into several weeks of intensive individualized care that I oversee daily. I do the Psychiatric evaluations on our Day Program (Catalyst) clients who come to Dallas, stay in hotels near our clinic, and attend intensive therapy 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, for usually 3 weeks. I supervise them also and meet regularly with their therapists and nurse practitioners. I also do outpatient med checks and evaluations, supervise my Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner, help run our national chain of non-profit clinics, and do a variety of radio and television interviews. I do short videos on numerous psychiatric topics available on U-Tube or at www.meierclinics.org. I still write occasional books or articles, but at a more relaxed pace. Show less
