  Project 1: Investigate the contribution of H3K9me in heterochromatin inheritance in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Yeast genetics together with molecular biology techniques led us to demonstrate that H3K9 methylation is a heritable epigenetic mark whose transmission is usually countered by an active mechanism dependent on the putative H3K9 demethylase Epe1 that removes H3K9me and prevents the unauthorised inheritance of heterochromatin at inappropriate regions of the genome. Project 2: Investigate the role of epi-mutations in the acquisition and the maintenance of stress resistance in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Show less
