I worked as a consultant DevOps engineer for a large telecoms client in a platform engineering capacity, delivering a network automation platform running primarily on AWS. The platform consisted of a suite of microservices (Java/Python/Go) running on Kubernetes. My responsibilities included: - Developing and documenting internal tooling, including a range of container images, (Python/Boto3/Docker/Bash) used to automate tasks within our deployment workflow - Developing, maintaining, and debugging CI/CD pipelines (Spinnaker/Jenkins/Bash/Python) which we used to deliver rolling upgrades and updates to our customer environments - Integration of a diverse cross-section of system components across the stack in a complex SDN environment, with special attention given to security concerns (IAM/*LB/R53/EC2/CF/EKS) - Collaborating with microservice engineering teams on development of network automation and data processing services and associated protocols and tools, and cross-team incident resolution and triage - Documenting and developing processes relating to all aspects of our team's duties, providing visibility to other stakeholders within the project and facilitating horizontal knowledge transfer within the team and the wider org (Jira/Confluence) - Identification, tracking, and triage of issues which arose within our live environments and working with other teams to resolve these issues on a timely basis - Operation, provisioning, maintenance, and monitoring of infrastructure (RHEL7/OpenBSD/Ubuntu) for our deployment environments (S3/ECR/Prometheus/Grafana) - Participating in maintenance of our internal code libraries and associated code review duties (Git/Gerrit) Show less

I worked as a DevOps engineer within a fintech division of a financial services organization partnered with a Fortune 500 US client, largely on deployment, maintenance and monitoring of colocated and on-premise applications and associated systems and pipelines. Duties undertaken included:- Implemented new CI/CD pipelines for the DevOps platform engineering group within the organization, working closely with the application engineering teams as part of the process (Java/Maven/Gradle/WebSphere/Groovy/Jenkins/Bash)- Collaborated with other engineers within the platform engineering group to expand our self-service catalog - largely exposing application configuration options and providing static asset drop-off capability to developer teams (ServiceNow/Python/Bash/Bitbucket/AWS)- Supervised production deployments and release engineering duties on an on-call basis along with associated incident resolution & root-cause analysis duties, monitoring, and escalation duties, and RCA duties in case of failures (Powershell/Bash)- Participated in requirements gathering, consultation with stakeholders, and implementation of end-to-end deployment pipelines for services and applications within our business unit and the wider org- Designed and implemented automation solutions for labour-intensive tasks (e.g. automation of manual testing processes) within the organization (Sonar/Checkmarx/Artifactory)- Undertook onboarding and roll-out of new technical tools within the enterprise, streamlining internal processes, reducing manual effort, and facilitating best practices- Conducted demos and knowledge transfers with other teams within the organization, bringing them up-to-speed on new tooling and technologies and increasing overall change velocity (Jira/Bitbucket) Show less

I participated in an automated software testing internship program jointly run between Pramerica and the Donegal ETB. I left the internship program early after receiving a job offer from Pramerica following a demo of a spell-checking program which I developed in my own time (C, Bash). Outcomes from the internship program were:- Developed fundamental proficiency in software testing: Software development methodologies & frameworks, automated testing concepts and associated best practices- Acquired proficiency in Java and related automation & testing tools and basic frontend & browser test automation with Selenium Show less
