Created and led the design, development, patenting*, validation, and commercialization of the DebMed® (now SC Johnson Professional) Evidence Based Hand Hygiene Electronic Monitoring System. This was the first electronic monitoring system proven through peer reviewed research to drive improved hand hygiene behavior, a reduction in healthcare-associated infections and elimination of significant costs associated with those infections. I was the first inventor on a Monitoring System Patent issued in 2013 with 3 other patents subsequently issued. Partnered with academic and provider organizations to develop a sound body of peer reviewed and other scientific evidence demonstrating positive clinical, financial and patient safety culture outcomes with the DebMed technology which The Economist called "simple and clever" in one of its Technology Quarterly Review Sections. Invited international speaker as an expert and key opinion leader on electronic monitoring of hand hygiene performance improvement. Pioneered the electronic hand hygiene monitoring category globally with over 100 publications, abstracts and conference/meeting presentations on the topic.
