In DCU, Paula and I worked together on a number of initiatives and campaigns, most notably during her time as Postgraduate Officer and liaised closely with me during my time as the Student's Union Education Officer there. Paula's professionalism, determination and dedication in ensuring her fellow students voices be heard was exceptional during her tenure as a student representative. Working on behalf of her fellow students, whilst managing her own postgraduate studies was no easy task I'm sure, but at every meeting and session of student council, she proved to be a sensible and diligent voice. Throughout the year, she became a trusted and valued colleague and someone whose sound advice I and other student officers always valued. I would have no hesitation in recommending Paula for any position she applies for as she will always be an asset to the organisation she works with.

Emmet Ryan

Paula took on a task that involves a whole heap of coordination with little in the way of resources and managed to deliver with aplomb in a calm manner that kept all stakeholders more than happy.

As Postgrad officer, I was responsible for chairing the Postgraduate working group which will deal with specific issues for Postgrads as well as developing Postgraduate policies. I also had the responsibility this year of holding a number of focus groups to gather feedback and suggestions from Postgrads on the recent implemented strategic plan entitled Strategic Plan 2012- 2017, Transforming Lives and Societies. On working with this group, I gained experience in working with groups as well as improved on my people skills.

My class put their faith in me to be their voice to our student union. I was responsible for raising any issues or concerns my class had to the members of DCU Student Union Executive and to ensure that the opinions of my class were voiced on various issues that arose throughout my time in DCU. I then had the job of communicating back to my class. I was also the link between the staff of my programmes and the rest of the students in my classes. I then had the job of communicating back to my class. I was also the link between the staff of my programmes and the rest of the students in my classes. I sat down to meetings with the staff regularly to iron out issues and to come up with ideas to improve the courses. The main forum for much of this work was in the bi-annual programme boards that I attended throughout my time in DCU. I dealt with many personal issues that my classmates were affected by and gave them guidance as to where they could get further help or put them in touch with people who had more experience in dealing with those kinds of issues.
