    • Management Consultant
      • Mar 1998 - Mar 1999

For the majority of my time in the role of management consultant with Price Waterhouse I worked as a Component Manager on BT Australia Limited's (BTAL's) euro project, full time from June 1998 to January 1999. The objective of this project was to ensure that all areas of BTAL were prepared for the introduction of the euro on 1st January 1999 and that all business units satisfied both regulatory and business needs. Those BTAL business lines covered by the project included the Investment Bank, the Funds Management Division and Japan Bankers Trust. Key requirements for these businesses included: *ensuring that all systems and surrounding processes could process and record euro transactions from front-to-back * ensuring that conversions from and to the euro, and from and to legacy currencies were undertaken in accordance with Bankers Trust policy; * ensuring that positions and transactions outstanding as at 31st December, 1999 could be converted/re-denominated to the euro as directed by market conventions and business needs; *ensuring that all ECU positions were converted to the euro; * ensuring that staff procedures, data and systems were in place for the start of business on the 4th January, 1999; *ensuring levels of client service were maintained. As Component Manager, I was responsible for ensuring that all business line project managers completed the agreed work within that component in a timely fashion to ensure successful delivery of the project. A key aspect of this was the co-ordination and liaison between the different BTAL project managers and between BTAL and Global BT Command in London and New York. I carried out the role of Component Manager on a number of components: Testing, End-user computing, Interdependency with other BT business units and with external bodies, Conversion preparation, and management of the actual process during the Conversion.
