I have recently joined Tønnesen's Lab at the Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience as a PhD student. As a member of the Neural Excitability Laboratory my goal is to understand the factors that influence neuronal excitability in health and disease settings, such as in epilepsy, which is characterised by excitatory hyper-excitability. To do so the laboratory relies primarily on electrophysiology and fluorescence imaging approaches in live tissue, such us: electrophysiological whole-cell patch-clamp and field recordings, 2-photon imaging, STED microscopy, and optogenetics.
