    • Sr. Geophysicist / Chief Geophysicist
      • Jun 2009 - Present

    • Retired
      • Jun 2009 - Jun 2014

Part of a small G&G team monitoring producing assets in the Taranaki Basin and evaluating new ventures / business opportunities in the Austral-Asia region. Formerly with ROC Oil (Bohai) Company based in Beijing, ROC Oil Company Ltd based in Sydney, and Unocal Corp based in Bangkok.

    • Project/Development Geophysicist
      • May 2007 - May 2009

Development geophysicist for ROC- operated Zhao Dong oil field in China's Bohai Bay. Ongoing responsibilities include developing infill play concepts and prospect generation, well planning, and maintaining effective interaction & communication between the drilling group, management, and Chinese joint venture partners. 2007/08: Responsible for successful completion of 3D re-processing project which involved merging of three PetroChina 3D volumes shot over various parts of the contract area. Final products included both pre-stack time and depth migration volumes. Coordinated project among CGGVeritas in Kuala Lumpur, PetroChina data processing group, and ROC management and technical support staff. 2007/09: Responsible for seismic interpretation and generation of new infill well concepts, well planning using Landmark's WellborePlanner software, and monitoring well progress during drilling. Utilization of seismic-stratigraphic techniques, sequence interval analysis and interval & attribute extraction and analysis were critical to understanding both lateral and vertical fluvial reservoir distribution and connectivity. Successfully planned and saw to completion 4 horizontal wells and 6 high-angle wells. Show less

    • Senior Geophysicist
      • 2007 - 2009

    • Regional Geophysicist
      • Oct 2003 - Apr 2007

Development geophysicist for ROC - operated producing assets: the newly acquired Zhao Dong oil field in China's Bohai Bay, and the Cliff Head oil field in West Australia's North Perth Basin. Ongoing responsibilities include developing play concepts and prospect generation, well planning, and maintaining effective interaction between management, joint venture partners, government agencies, and production engineering team members. 2007: Zhao Dong development will include exploration and intensive infill drilling of up to 50 wells from two new platforms. A vertically accreted fluvial depositional environment was especially suited to Stratimagic's "seismic facies" analysis for prospect identification and well targeting. 2004~06: Responsible for exploration & development in the North Perth Basin (Licenses 286P, 325P, & 346P) integrating offshore and onshore 2D & 3D seismic data; prospect generation and field development. Complex structuring and interval velocity variations recognized during the Cliff Head delineation phase lead to a 3D re-processing and PSDM project in 2005 to support a final volumetric assessment prior to committing to the development phase. An 8-well drilling program (including 4 horizontal wells) was successfully completed with the field now having produced 7MMBO. Show less

    • Senior geophysicist
      • Jun 1998 - Sep 2003

responsible for prospect generation and well planning for Erawan 12-47 & 12-49 delineation wells, both of which were successful gas discoveries. Proved 5 additional platform locations.

    • Senior geophysicist
      • Jun 1998 - Sep 2003

responsible for prospect generation and well planning for ERWN 3rd Phase Infill project (7 wells). This program discovered 1166 ft. of new pay with a reserve add of 19.79 BCF gas.Actively sought opportunities to teach/mentor Thai national employees. Taught in the Chulalongkorn University industry training program with a presentation to students on reservoir geophysics. Coordinated pre-stack time migration re-processing project with Veritas on original 1979 Erawan seismic data volume. Show less

    • Advising Geophysicist
      • Jan 1998 - Sep 2003

Leading geophysicist on Erawan Asset Team. Liased with the Survey, Drilling, Planning & E&C departments to ensure that all project goals were met. Developed geophysical play concepts, completed all well planning, and prepared documentation for government agencies and partners on each of the following projects: Project manager for the ERWL 3rd Phase Infill Project (10 wells). The NPV of this project is about $7.5MM, with 658 ft. of new pay discovered and a reserve add of 15.8 BCF gas and 450M bbls condensate. Project coordinator for ERWU new platform project (16 wells) on the Erawan East Flank. Due to cost over-runs, initiated and drove discussions with planning and drilling to swap out the Ensco-57 jack-up for the Robray T-4 tender rig. The Phase II program was consequently completed ahead of schedule and below cost. Discovered 1416 ft. of new pay with a reserve add of 37.6 BCF gas and 1.3MM bbls condensate. Show less

      • Jan 1993 - Jan 1998

Performed seismic interpretation on new ventures project teams in Brunei, Central Kazakstan (Chu-Serasu Basin), and Pakistan (Middle Indus Basin). Interpreted Venezuelan 2nd Reactivation Bid Round data packages in Maracaibo Basin, expanded studies into Llanos and Barinas-Apure Basins. Prepared field analogy templates. Maintained ongoing regional trend evaluation. In highgraded areas, developed new-play summaries as G&G support in a multi-disciplinary team effort to assess potential entry-level business opportunities in current exploration bid round.
