I manage a team of highly skilled and knowledgeable engineers and technicians to maintain a diverse fossil fuelled power plant. Ensure that statutory pressure plant inspections and maintenance are fulfilled to maintain the safe and reliable operation of generation and associated systems. I have installed and maintain an Asset Maintenance package that works across all maintenance disciplines and complements the stations Safe System of Work. Part of the project was to ensure take-up by all departments which has been very successful. Plant includes: 3 Olympus Gas Turbines, 4 Sulzer ZAS40 V16’s, 1 x Sulzer ZAS40 8L associated ancillary equipment, and a salt water cooling system. Have been the focal point for many multi-disciplined projects be it; installing large medium speed diesel engines, overhauling gas turbine generating plant, and installation of 2 new 80m x 1.8m 316L exhaust flue. Employed to overhaul and upgrade to (Sun Dance spec) Leyland L60 opposed piston 2 stroke engines as fitted to the Chieftain tank. Part of the spec' was to modify and test the injection pumps. I then fitted the engines to an in house test bed where they were run in and tested to full power on a dynamometer to ensure that the spec' was met. Also rigged and tested Meteor engines to full load prior to sale and shipping. Overhauled Rolls Royce Merlin carburators for various contracts one being the BBMF. Once overhauled these were then flow tested on a rig to various specifications depending upon which Merlin engine Mk they were to be fitted to. Prior to leaving I was being trained to build Merlin engines. Show less
