I oversaw the acquisition of European Packaging Distributors by The Samuel Grant Group Leeds yielding a £2.1 million turnover from European Packaging Distributors in the 1st 12 months post-deal. I also integrated all suppliers from European Packaging Distributors successfully into Samuel Grant's supplier portfolio. Upon merging the 2 businesses, I introduced working practices developed at my business into Samuel Grants Leeds, resulting in improved stock management, along with overall stocking timeframes reduced in line with my business's best practice. Samuel Grant were anticipating customer churn of c.30%, but we achieved 98% customer retention in Yr. 1 after the merger. Show less

I was the founder & Managing Director of European Packaging Distributors, based in Bradford, UK; I grew the business from its inception over a 16 year period. we specialized in the supply of custom-made corrugated cases and polythene products, and were importers/stockists of general transit packaging materials. We grew a portfolio of contacts both in the UK and EU/worldwide for sourcing of a full range of transit packaging materials to supply to our ever-expanding UK customer base.I took great satisfaction from the deal-making aspect of running a business which was reliant on ongoing relationships with both suppliers of customers. This was a non-executive role where I was responsible for sales from 2 branches of the Kendon Packaging group (Nottingham and Dewsbury). Our total salesforce of 10 field salespeople achieved a combined turnover of c.£5.5m, at an average GP of 26%. I also had a key role in supplier negotiations e.g. top 2 UK suppliers introduction of rebates, while also maintaining a personal turnover of £800k p.a.
