My role has involved: • Preparing a report for the Board on the interaction between three accounting systems (including SAP) at KPMG and how to improve post spend analysis. • Being in charge of purchasing, designing and distributing to colleagues various items for the KPMG One Firm Event (a unique firm-wide event). • Providing input and drafting internal firm-wide communications about the event. Employment Tax: I joined the Employment Tax team on secondment as a project manager working on a national tax project. I was then offered a permanent position in the Employment Taxes team and my role has involved: • Preparing and reviewing clients employment tax related returns to HMRC; • Providing clients with advice on the taxation implications of mobile employees; • Advising on various taxation clauses in offshore trust deeds; • Liaising with leading counsel to advise clients on international tax queries; • Settlement negotiation with HMRC; and • The named accountant of the week for the week ending 15 June 2014. Financial Services Tax (Insurance): I joined KPMG as part of the Insurance Team. My role involved: • Acting as a reviewer for various taxation computations from the KPMG team based in India (for the preparation of clients corporate tax returns to HMRC) and performing tax audit roles; • Advising clients on the implications of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act for their risk management policies; and • Advising clients on their plans for international restructuring. I worked in the Export division where my primary role was to pursue a joint venture with a British business using a famous Indian chef to produce authentic Indian sauces to the British market.
