My career with Afrox began at the Pretoria West plant as Plant Manager reporting to the national ASU Operations Manager. I was managing an Air Separtion Unit in Pretoria West. The plant originally had two 700 tpd plants, built in the late nineteen eighties, where the main client was Iscor. When I joined the organisation only one plant was operating and the total liquid capacity was 350 tpd made up of 160 tpd of Liquid Oxygen, 150 tpd of Liqiud Nitrogen and 40 tpd of Industrial Liquid Argon. Due to the high maintenance and energy costs of running the Nitrogen Liquifying Unit (NLU) and the ASU, a business decision was taken to replace the plant, which was a Reverse Heat Exchanger or RHE ASU with a 200 tpd PPU ASU, i.e. Pre-Purification Unit (PPU) technology. This happened in 2012, becoming operational in 2013. Over this time I was responsible for the commissioning of the new plant, which included project managing a team of 25, cold commissioning the plant, ensuring that the plant reaches the correct parameters and getting the product to the required specifications. The plant's KPIs for the ASU were cost of downtime, reliability, safety, capex and opex management, people management as well as quality & process safety. All these were met and completed well within targets. I’m a forward thinking individual with a strong sense of focus on detail. Attaining results is important and the technical experience I have gained from my time at Afrox means that I can easily understand concepts and am very capable to execute and implement. I work well within a team environment and have led teams successfully in the past in previous roles. I mobilised teams into action, implemented change within teams to achieve target and reach desired outcome. Show less
