Apr 2022 - Present
As the CAD/BIM Manager, I oversee improving the CAD/Revit standards for the company. Regularly updating the AutoCAD & Revit templates to make sure that drawing & model production is as efficient and accurate as possible. Managing the drawing workload requires time management & organisation to track the tasks required for multiple ongoing projects at the same time as well as monitoring the drawing progress for projects to make sure that deadlines are met in an efficient and timely manner. I am always looking for ways to optimise the company drawing & model workflow through the use of programmes such as Navisworks and MagiCAD.

CAD Technician

Aug 2013 - Jul 2015
My main duty is to use the drawing programme AutoCAD to create computerised versions of surveyor’s site plans where asbestos had been identified within a building. As well as this, I quality control reports that explain to the client where the asbestos is within their building, how dangerous it is and the procedures that the surveyor believes should be undertaken. This role has built on my experience with other computer drawing programmes such as Corel Draw and I am now proficient with AutoCAD. Recently, my job title has changed from Delivery Administrator to CAD Technician which reflects the developed skills and experience I now have. My work requires exceptional attention to detail to create accurate representations of the plans. It also requires teamwork and communication to liaise with the quality control team, surveyors and project managers to get the CAD drawings and reports out to a high standard and to meet the requirements of the client.

I assisted with the development and submission of a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) project based in the Tillingbourne Valley within the Surrey Hills. This included the creation of maps to show key points of interest in the geographical area, editing the final document that was submitted to HLF and setting up and helping with stakeholder meetings. I also assisted with various other projects that members of the AONB team were working on during my time there such as the creation of online materials to promote cycling in the Surrey Hills, assisting with the development of the AONB website and working on materials that were distributed through social media including Twitter and Facebook. This work provided me with office experience whilst also providing practical experience while I shadow various members of the team.

The title of the project was; The Plymouth Food For the Public Sector. This project analysed the amount of food supplied to the Public sector in Plymouth that is produced or sourced locally (Devon & Cornwall). As part of a small team of post graduate students we were tasked with contacting local food suppliers to find what products they provide and where the ingredients for these are sources from. We collated this information to calculate the percentage of food sourced locally. The team prepared and gave a presentation to the main stakeholders involved in the study describing and explaining the implications of our findings. This project improved my data analysis and communication skills and also gave me valuable experience in the real world working environment.

These were part of a sustainability quiz to be used as a teaching aid for the college students (aged 16-18) with varied learning abilities. I trialled this with different groups and their teachers, obtaining feedback which I could reflect upon to ensure that the quiz was understandable and successful for everyone.
