Emergency Responder

Apr 2015 - Present
My current role involves working a twelve-hour shift pattern as a member of a 7 man onsite Emergency Response team, responding to all emergencies and also providing cover to surrounding sites. I cover Ineos O&P, Petroineos refinery, Ineos Dalston, Ineos FPS Kinneil, Ineos FPS Dalmeny, Ineos FPS Hound Point and the terminal at Finnart. Within my duties, I am required to deliver onsite firefighting, breathing apparatus and first aid training to operations personnel but I am also involved in giving specific fire training to Scottish Fire & Rescue Service. Part of my tasks are to carry out specific fire and safety checks in all production and storage areas, which include formulating rescue plans for confined space entries and fire risk assessments for various buildings. I take a proactive approach to any issues that I encounter, getting them resolved as quickly and safely as possible with minimal impact to site production. Upon receiving emergency information from any on or off sites, I am to liaise with the incident management team. I am also 1 of 2 medics on shift

Product Support Manager
-
Nov 2011 - Apr 2015
As a product support manager/ firefighter with Firemain Engineering Ltd, my role involved the marketing of products that the company distributed by means of practical demonstration, theoretical presentation and training exercises. My main role was working closely with Williams Fire and Hazard Control, where I had a unique understanding of their entire products range. I was also involved in consultation work with many petrochemical sites for ongoing and new projects. I was required to have a strong understanding of firefighting foams and the methodology behind applying them in large incidents particularly the Thunderstorm brand. I would visit all major petrochemical installations and cover all UK Fire and Rescue Services but I was also involved with equipment out in Libya. I was responsible for the mobilisation of large quantities of foam for incidents within the UK or Libya and could attend for technical assistance if requested. It was also part of my job to attend most exhibitions and offer any help and advice. This role also required me to be competent in the servicing and maintenance of Task Force Tips and Akron Brass branches and monitors as well as most of the Williams Fire and Hazard Controls mobile equipment throughout the UK. In 2014, I was part of a small team put on standby ready to mobilise into Libya due to a large-scale incident at a facility in Tobruk
