Working across the Forestry England Central Forest District which has responsibility for the management of some 30,000ha of the Public Forest Estate. Working as part of the Conservation and Heritage team providing support for environmental, operational, planning & beat teams as part of the management of the district woodlands. Undertake a range of ecological surveys to improve site knowledge for operational planning and environmental management. Issuing permits for ecological surveys, management of permit database, collating survey results and in turn use this to update district records and GIS conservation layer. Supporting the beat foresters and the environment team in the OPS1 operational planning process. Working to District Environment and Heritage manager to maintain and co-ordinate the districts programme of non-native invasive plant eradication. Support Planning Foresters to ensure felling proposals are in line with approved felling plans, abide by environmental best practices and EPS protected species laws. Update and write new management plans for the Districts SSSI woodlands. Show less
